WHY WORK WITH ME

Experience

As crazy as it sounds I've been there. Turn the clocks back 20 years and I was a totally different person. I know what it's like to have emotional pain to be under the sway of negative thoughts, and to struggle just to be part of this world. All of my current work invoices helping people to come back from such despair.

Skills

As well as mindfulness and meditation, I have experience of several other modalities. I am a trained Kiloby Inquiries Facilitator, have studied Shiatsu, yoga and Tai Chi, and am also interested in energy healing methods such as Reiki. And I use other Advanced Mindfulness Techniques such as Direct Pointing and Deep Looking.

Practice

I started my mindfulness practice in 1993 when a friend gave me a mantra meditation. Since then I have experimented with several practices in order to find out which ones work and why. I know now that one practice does not suit everyone and have an intuitive sense of what will work best when I speak to someone.

Presence

I have fortunate that my journey has led me to a place where residing in presence now comes quite naturally to me, and I do not get drawn into suffering in the way I did before. This ability to stay in the moment is rare, and allows me to be fully present within sessions, without needing to bring my own agenda into my work.

HOW TO BOOK

You will then receive an email from me with a Zoom link. Zoom is a method of facilitating video calls online and you do not need a Zoom account to join meetings as a participant.

Simply click the Zoom link in the email and you will be taken to a page where you will be able to communicate with me.

BEFORE OUR SESSION

You don't really need to do anything else before our meeting, though it can be helpful to have a think about anything that is bothering you and that you would like to look at during the session

Ideally you would be somewhere quiet for the session, and somewhere you will not be disturbed. This is simply because it helps to be calm and focussed during the sessions.

I recommend planning for 15 minutes free time after the session to absorb the experience and transition back to life.

DURING THE SESSION

The sessions involve somatically based mindfulness. This means there is no need to go over the whole of your life history. Rather we simply relax and let what wants to arise, arise. You will likely find the healing process to be very intuitive. Often you can do most of the work yourself - you simply need someone to 'hold the space'.

Advanced Mindfulness is a step up from formal mindfulness, with a focus on somatic experiencing whilst also dealing with thoughts. By experiencing the mechanisms at play within us from a place of presence and calm, a natural healing process takes place where unresolved emotions from the past are resolved, and protective mechanisms that are no longer needed fall away. By removing these cuses of conflict, the natural state of contentment and happiness begins to show through, and after a while can become the baseline state.

No this is not therapy. In fact, there is little need to go into the story of our lives using somatic mindfulness. We simply stay with whatever arises and meet it with a loving non-judgemental attitude.

Advanced Mindfulness takes aspects of meditation but applies them with razor sharp incision. Instead of waiting for aspects of our unconsciousness to arise, we coax them out. We then meet these aspects with love and kindness, accepting them for what they are. For this reason Advanced Mindfulness can bemuch quicker and more effective at bringing us through mentalaand emotional pain to a place of peace and clarity.

Sagara was ordained as a Buddhist in 1999. He is just an ordinary bloke from the north of England who lives a life similar to anyone else. He is married, has two young kids, and works in the NHS and HMP prison service as well as his private practice online. Sagara has always been drawn to helping others and is constantly developing creative methods to help do this.

Though these techniques can work for everyone, it helps to have a resonance with the approach. Also, Sagara no longer works with complex trauma online simply because he is unable to provide support out of the session. 

Sessions usually last between 60 and 75 minutes. Please allow a little time either side to transition to and from the experience of somatic mindfulness

It is difficult to say how many sessions you will need as it can depend on the issues that need dealing with, and your response to the practice. Sometimes these can clear in one session, but often it can take longer. The aim is to give you the tools and understanding to help yourself, but you may still require someone to ‘hold the space’ for you for some time.
